Alimata Coulibaly Kindo lives in Burkina Faso. She trains refrigeration and air conditioning technicians. She knows that her sector is responsible for 13 per cent of all global greenhouse gas emissions. Running the appliances uses massive amounts of electricity and the refrigerant they use also produces emissions, contributing massively to global warming.

Alimata attended a training course in October 2022 about natural refrigerants, which save energy and protect the climate. Today she passes that knowledge on in her training courses. She says, “Other generations will come after us. So we all have a duty to protect the planet!”

Projects like these reduce the amounts of electricity being generated using fossil fuels, which results in CO₂ emissions. Every ton of CO₂ that can be avoided – anywhere in the world – is a step towards slowing down climate change. And, in the end, that benefits people across the world, including Germany.
