Statement Current situation in eastern Congo

    28 January 2025 | Commenting on the current situation in eastern Congo, a spokesperson for the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development issued the following statement:

    “The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has cancelled the government consultations with Rwanda planned for mid-February. There cannot be 'business as usual' amid the current escalation in eastern Congo. Rwanda and M23 need to end the escalation and withdraw. The BMZ is currently coordinating with other donors on further consequences.”
